They say the night is darkest just before the dawn
As the fears of the night are laid to rest

In the darkness is the promise of the sun
And so it is at the ending of another year
The decorations the busy streets the choir sings
Who do we tell.... of.... all the hopes and fears that Christmas brings?

It wasn’t long ago a time like this would be
More than a time to laze around and watch TV
Or get yourself too drunk at parties loud and wild
It was to celebrate the coming of a Child
A precious gift to rescue us from our fallen ways
A Royal King with a promise of some better days
To bring us love... hope..... joy and brotherhood to all mankind

Track Name: A Saviour Born
These lyrics are inspired by my belief in the Biblical teachings that a) Jesus's birth was NOT in the middle of winter, but end of September/early October (e.g. in mid-winter, sheep would have been in barns, not out on hills!) and b) that the Magi visited him when he was about 2 years old (shortly before the flight to Egypt) (e. g. they went to his HOUSE (not a rough barn) - and of course, there may well have been more than three!

ENEMY KINGS DICTATED THE RULES
WANTING A COUNT OF ALL THE PEOPLE
PUT IT DOWN ON FOREIGN SCROLLS

A MOTHER GAVE BIRTH TO A BOY CHILD
IN A STABLE, SMELLY AND ROUGH
A PRECIOUS KING ARRIVED SO HUMBLY
BEDDED DOWN IN A FEEDING TROUGH

A SAVIOUR BORN A KING TO DIE
DYING FOR ALL AND THEN TO RISE
AND RISE AGAIN BEYOND THE SKY
A HOPE FOR ALL FOR YOU AND I

TWO YEARS LATER ASTROLOGERS CAME
TO BRING THEM WEALTH AND PROPHETIC PERFUME
A MESSAGE CAME TO FLEE TO AFRICA
BEFORE THE SLAUGHTER OF THOSE BACK HOME

WHEN HE GREW UP, THE MIRACLES STARTED
HEALING THOSE HE CAME TO SAVE
TEACHING TO LOVE THE REJECTED AND HATED
SCORNING RELIGION, EMPTYING GRAVES

FOLLOWED BY THOUSANDS, LOVE BY THE LOWLY
CHALLENGING ALL HYPOCRISY
KILLED ON A CROSS, BURIED, ABANDONED
TIL HE ROSE FROM THE GRAVE
